DIY Big Joe Halloween Costumes: Foam Pool Noodle Costume Creations

Halloween is just around the corner, and it's time to start planning your perfect costume. While store-bought costumes are convenient, there's something special about creating your own unique and creative outfit. If you're looking for a fun and budget-friendly way to craft Halloween magic, look no further than foam pool noodles. These versatile, colorful, and lightweight noodles can be transformed into incredible costumes that will leave everyone spellbound. In this blog post, we'll show you how to create three amazing Halloween costumes: a horse, a spider, and for the pets at home, an ear of corn! All using Big Joe foam swim pool noodles as your secret weapon.

1. A Cowboy (or girl!)'s Best Friend: Foam Pool Noodle Horse

If you're looking for the perfect accessory for your cowboy costume, you need your trusty steed! Here's what you'll need:

Materials:

  • Foam pool noodles (our skinnier, Swim Noodles work best)
  • Googly eyes
  • Felt fabric or faux fur (for the horse's mane and tail)
  • Ribbon or twine tape for the reins
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Begin by bending the noodle and tying the twine or ribbon tightly around it and securing it. Leave a little bit of the twine hanging, so that it looks like reins.
  2. Cut your felt or faux fur into strips to create the main and tail. You can get creative with this!
  3. Attach felt or faux fur for the horse's mane and tail, and googly eyes in place using hot glue.

2. Creepy Crawler: Foam Pool Noodle Spider Costume

Spiders are a Halloween staple, and with foam pool noodles, you can spin a web of creativity. Here's what you'll need:

Materials:

  • Foam pool noodles (whatever color you want your spider to be!)
  • Desired colored clothing
  • Desired colored stockings or leggings
  • Black gloves
  • Black beanie hat
  • Desired colored fuzzy boas for cuffs
  • Googly eyes
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Clear string or fishing line

Instructions:

  1. Cut the foam pool noodles into smaller sections to create the spider's legs. You'll need eight equal-length pieces.
  2. Attach the foam noodle legs to your shirt using hot glue. Make sure to evenly distribute them to resemble the spider's legs.
  3. Cut the fuzzy boas so they wrap around the pool noodle legs once and each joint.
  4. Create the spider's eyes by gluing googly eyes onto the beanie hat
  5. Optional Step: Using the clear string or fishing line, tie a knot around the end of the bottom pool noodle, and continuing with the string tie another loop around the next noodle, and then loosely tie off around your wrist. This will create an even distribution of the "legs" instead of them drooping down.

  • Yellow t-shirt (find one that fits your pet but not too tightly!)
  • Green felt
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Instructions:

  1. Take your pool noodle and cut it in half lengthwise. Cut them into several pieces to create the corn kernels.
  2. Glue the "kernels" to the back side of the yellow shirt in rows mimicking the look of corn on the cob.
